Postdoctoral Research Associate


The research group is part of the core area “Biotechnology and Stem Cell Research” at LEBAO and is integrated in the Hannover site of the German Centre for Lung Research – “BREATH”.


Key responsibilities:
Your key responsibilities will include the planning and implementation of experiments with the aim of optimizing the differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells into respiratory epithelial and endothelial cells. This will include analysis of the experiments using standard molecular and cell biological methods (qRT-PCR, immunofluorescence staining, flow cytometry, Western Blot, etc.) and structured presentation of the findings. In addition, you will be responsible for the supervision of junior researchers and technicians and will work on the preparation of scientific publications and third-party grant applications.


Candidates must hold a university degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences or a related area and a PhD in natural sciences with a focus on molecular or cell biology. Experience in the field of lung developmental biology, research in the field of vascular diseases and / or lung diseases, in particular cystic fibrosis, as well as expertise in human pluripotent stem cells and genome engineering are desirable. Competence in standard molecular and cell biological methods and a high level of proficiency in English are also required.

This post is initially offered as a fixed‐term contract for two years with the intention of extending to a longer‐term contract. The position is offered on a full‐time basis and is not suitable for part‐time work/job sharing. The salary for this post will depend on the personal qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
